Last week, August 28 and 29, I photographed the 33rd annual convention for the Society of Wine Educatorsat the Double Tree Hotel here in Sacramento. They were a great group of people who know a lot about wine and had a few things to teach me.
I have been up and down Napa Valley photographing wineries, the enologist, viticulturist for Patterson's Beverage Journal; so I met several of the people before who attended this conferece.
They have presenters from all over the world, California and the USA. Who would of thought that there were wine producers in Texas! They had keynote speaker from England, South Africa and Italy.
I had much to learn from this group as I did as I do for most conventions and conferences that I photograph. Unfortunately, I could not taste any of that beautiful wine, I was working!

On Thursday, May 14th, Jay photographed Eskaton's 13th Annual Gala for the fifth year. Jay donates his time and provides a family photo package for the raffle. The Gala is a fundraiser for the Eskaton Foundation which supports Eskaton's Community Programs which includes the Senior Connection, TLC Telephone Reassurance Program, Adult Day Health Care, and Affordable Housing for Seniors. This is an important fundraiser that deserves attention as trying and uncertain ecomomic times stress all, including the aging.
The mission of the Eskaton Foundation is to enhance Eskaton’s ability to provide accessible, innovative services for seniors by nurturing a philanthropic environment that fosters volunteer involvement, donor relations and stewardship.
Over 14,000 seniors and their families were served by Eskaton in 2006. More than half of these individuals have limited incomes. Your support enables Eskaton to:
Expand and augment community service programs:
The Senior Connection: Free information, assistance and community education for older adults and caregivers.
The TLC Telephone Reassurance Program: Daily phone calls to over 500 isolated older adults. Free to individuals over 60 regardless of income.
Enhance the affordability of existing programs and services by identifying supplemental funding sources.
Explore new ways to provide services to seniors through innovative technology and implementation of new models of care.
Last week I photographed the annual conference for Housing California. This was the 30th year of their founding. They are truly a great group of people to work for. They represent and lobby for those who need adequate housing.

Here is what they do:
Susan and I recently had the opportunity to photograph our friend's daughter's second child. What a happy little girl! Both are absolute gems; Mom, Dad, and Grandma are some lucky people! They were so elated with the photos

Welcome to Jay's Blog,
This is all new to me so I'm going to take it for brief spin around the block.
Check out the Mother's and Father's Day Special that we are currently running. This is a great time to do an out door family portrait! How about at the park or your backyard. We have a client who is having us join them up atLake Tahoe to photograph them at their family cabin that dates back to the '50's. I think a period stylize shot in sepia would be great!
